Volvo 960 24v 3.0 Estate

Call me strange but I'd always fancied an old Volvo (a proper rwd one). As I'd recently moved and needed to buy / collect various large items, I did some man-maths and calculated that it would cheaper to buy a big Volvo instead of pay the delivery fees on various things.

I wasn't specifically looking for a 960, an old 740 would have been better but none of those came up for a price I was willing to pay.

One came up on ebay fairly local, so I set myself a budget, got carried away / competitive, blew my budget and bought one.

Frankly, the novelty factor was the only thing stopping me from reneging on the deal. It was a 3.0, 24v straight 6, rwd with an automatic box; surprisingly quick off the mark for such a barge but my god was it thirsty!

Within about 2 days of buying it, the rear brakes started making a horrible noise which turned out to be the pads disintegrating, which then took the discs with them. Other jobs included the coolant temp sensor (which was reading off causing the fuel mixture to be rich) and removal of the steering rack to see if I could re-build it, then realising it was more of a pain than I thought

I'm not going to go into great detail on this car as I didn't do that much to it that's worth writing about. All I'll end with is once I was done with it, I wrote a very honest ebay advert, just about sold it for the purchase price and the buyer was extremely happy.
